Portugal, as a whole, is wonderful. The Minho region? A piece of heaven. But barely anyone knows about it. We found a way to spread the word and make everyone travel #RumoAoMinho (direction Minho).
Nowadays, what’s the best way to spread the word? Social media, no doubt.
At the beginning of the year, we were inspired by travelers who told their story through social media. Videos on YouTube, Instagram posts, Blog posts and so on. They all talked about France, Spain, Italy, the Algarve, but only a select few ever talked about northern Portugal. Why was that? Because only those select few dared to come to enjoy and experience something no-one had experienced before.
Thus, we came up with a challenge: we would invite a small group of influencers so they could experience the traditional and authentic Minho and spread the word. And so the #RumoAoMinho movement is born.
The trip took place between October 3rd and 6th, 2018, with a small group of 6 LGBT influencers:
Because Marisa is a lesbian and Rumo Norte is a LGBT-friendly travel agency, it was important for us to have the LGBT community represented. It was also an easy way to show everyone that you can come and just be yourself.
Throughout the three day experience #RumoAoMinho, all influencers had the change to experience the three core elements of the Minho region: culture, local experiences and nature. There was a day-visit to Peneda-Gerês National Park, cultural visits to Braga and Guimarães, and even a traditional, portuguese dinner in a typical, portuguese family house.
The #RumoAoMinho experience could never have happened with the help of our partners to whom we also have to thank: Torre de Gomariz – Wine & Spa Hotel 5*, Go2Nature and Vila Verde‘s Municipal town hall.
It was a one-of-a-kind experience with an excepcional group that we describe in detail in the following links:
